Welcome to Reception – Swans

Class Information

• Reading books are changed twice weekly, on their allocated days, when your child has completed their book. (Please remember to sign their reading record and ask them questions about their book to show that they understand what they have read). Reading books need to be in school every day.
• PE - indoor on Monday and outdoor on Wednesday (remember to come in PE ready!).

• Autumn Term 1 Swan Class Update

  Swans class have had a super start and we are very proud at how well they are settling into their new class and routines. The children have enjoyed exploring a range of play opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom, working collaboratively and building new relationships. We have been especially proud of how well the children have settled into having lunch at school, showing beautiful manners and enjoying the food.  They have enjoyed a range of activities linked to our topic 'Magical Me'. The children have amazed us with their willingness to have a go at new activities and for taking responsibility for their own belongings by unpacking for the day ahead and for getting ready for play and collecting all of their items to go home, with many of them being able to fasten and unfasten their buttons or zips on their coats. It has been a lovely start and we look forward to learning and exploring more together!

• Autumn Term 2 Swan Class Update

  Reception have enjoyed a half term filled with Sparkling Celebrations which included Diwali, Bonfire Night and the Nativity.  The children learnt lots of new songs and undertook many different roles in the school play.  The term ended with the school Christmas dinner, the class party and a surprise appearance from a special visitor.

  The Children had great fun taking part in a range of Christmas themed sporty activities, take a look at the photos of how they decorated the wall bars in teams for  the activity 'Decorate the Tree'!

  The children had great fun at our Christmas Party: enjoying a snack and drink, playing games, dancing and unwrapping presents from Father Christmas (who made a Covid-safe flying visit).

  

• Spring Term 2 Swan Class Update

   Reception have been so happy to be reunited.  Over the last couple of weeks we have been remembering how special we all are, having tranquil time together with therapeutic colouring activities and listening to calming music.   We have been learning about the solar system, studying the different planets and creating aliens.   We also had fun celebrating Red Nose Day dressing up and telling jokes.

  We had a fun filled day decorating biscuits to look like aliens, making alien headdresses and listening to outer space music.

• St, George's Day Celebrations

  The day started with a whole school zoom celebration assembly.

  

  We learnt how and why people celebrate St. George's Day and acted out the story of  George and the dragon.

   

  Biscuits were decorated to look like the flag of  St. George.

   

   

  In the afternoon we designed out own coat of arms and shields.
